Gaming Performance Motherboard

In the performance stakes, it all starts with the ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-Plus motherboard for the Spectre. Chosen for its array of enhanced gaming features, the motherboard is LGA 1700 socket for the 12th-Gen Alder Lake Intel Core i7-12700K, and affords gamers with masses of cooling options with seven Q-Fan controlled (which sense the fan type you’re using) 4-pin fan headers and world class ASUS VRM heatsinks to keep power regulated with zero compromise in thermals.

For the technically-minded, the Z690-Plus WIFI D4 operates a 15-phase DrMOS design, with 14 phases purely dedicated to Vcore. EPS connector(s) send power to an ASP2100 PWM controller, with a teamed setup to distribute between two phases (without a phase doubler). Power is sent to 80A Vishay Sic850 DrMOS MOSFETs to provide a huge 1,120 Amps for the Core i7-12700K. This setup actually future-proofs for more power-hungry CPUs, too, being easily capable of running a 12th-Gen Core i9 at stock or overclocked specs.

For those that want perfect sound quality, the small Faraday cage that surrounds the Realtek ALC1220 chip, ensuring crystal clear and interference-free audio. For excellent connectivity for controllers, keyboards and mice, the USB v3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) and USB v3.2 Gen 2×2, Type-C (20 Gbps) support is an essential for high performance gaming peripherals.

PCIe 5.0 is supported by the Z690-Plus WIFI D4, as is DDR4 5333+(OC), with up to 128GB capacity over four slots. The Limited Edition Spectre comes with 32GB 3200Mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM for the smoothest and fastest gaming, creativity and productivity experiences.

High End Processor & GPU

The Core i7-12700K is one of Intel’s flagship unlocked processors, capable of matching the Core i7-12900K with class-leading gaming performance. The overclockable 12700K offers 8P+ 4E cores for a total of 12 Cores and 20 threads. With a base of 3.6GHz and boost clock speed of 5.0GHz on the Performance cores, as well as 2.7GHz/3.8 GHz respectively on the Efficiency cores, this processor was born for gaming and creative work.

The Core i7-12700K is Fractal Lumen RGB 240mm AIO liquid cooler, enabling you to ramp up the power without thermals being affected – zeroing in on in-game performance when you need it.

Paired with the sheer power of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB, the Limited Edition Spectre can unleash blindingly fast visuals at breakneck framerates in all Esports titles. The RTX 3070 Ti is the perfect partner for the Esports and competitive gamer, offering superb gaming performance, but also allowing gamers to create and stream with ease. Nvidia Studio allows you to get the very best rendering and processing power when you are creating VODs or montages, and for streaming your matches, NVENC enables you to encode crisp and fluid streams.

Esports Gaming Benchmarks

Whilst visual effects like Ray Tracing and finer details matter very little in Esports and competitive gaming, what really matters is graphics quality and framerates. At standard competitive tournament resolutions (generally 1080p), the sharper the image, and the higher the GPU framerate, the better the player can perform. Framerate is directly linked to the refresh rate of the monitor, so with a high performance graphics card, a monitor with high refresh rates and low latencies matter most.

Hardware performance is everything in competitive play, because high framerates and low latencies can mean the difference between a kill and being killed. Whilst games like VALORANT and League of Legends are more than happy to run on older, slower machines, it is virtually impossible to play at a competitive level with a slow PC.
